The BPRC is a scientific institute that carries out research on life-threathening and debilitating human diseases using in vitro models and non-human primate models. BPRC has its own, self-sustaining breeding colonies of macaques and marmosets. This allows us to contribute to (more) effective and/or safe medicines, vaccines and treatment methods under high laboratory animal welfare conditions. BPRC is AAALAC accredited.

Who we’re looking forWe are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and flexible colleague to complement our team of veterinarians.

TasksThe activities are both varied and challenging and include curative and preventive health care for our monkey colony. In health monitoring you have an important role in nutrition, housing & enrichment and breeding. You consult with various departments (colony manager, pathology and researchers) to ensure the health and welfare of the animals. In addition, you are jointly responsible for optimizing and continuously improving animal welfare and applying the 3Rs. Performing biotechnical actions, supervising animal welfare during experiments and advising in research protocols. You will also be a member of the Animal Welfare Body.

Profile– In possession of a completed veterinary training;- Work experience is nice, but not an absolute must;- Enthusiastic veterinarian who considers well-being of paramount importance;- A team player who can also work independently;- Positive attitude towards our business activities;- Innovative;- Participate in the duty roster with average, lightly loaded call services. What we offer– An appointment for 32 hours a week- Well-equipped veterinary department: modern ultrasound equipment, laparoscopy and endoscopy,       PET/CT and an internal microbiological, haematological and pathological lab.- Independent and versatile position in a challenging environment with a diversity of great colleagues.- Good work-life balance.
