Overview:

Johannes Kepler University, Upper Austria’s largest educational and research institution, is offering a long-term position for a veterinarian for the Biomedical Research Facility (BMFE) at the Faculty of Medicine.
The Center for Medical Research offers a modern infrastructure and works closely with an animal ethics board with equal representation of laypersons to ensure the highest ethical standards.

Job Duties:

• Collaborate with our Named Veterinary Surgeon(s) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
• Develop and maintain expertise in laboratory animal science and related disciplines through ongoing education and training.
• Provide veterinary cover for animal units and clinical services at our facilities.
• Support the implementation of new techniques, procedures, and technologies to enhance animal care and welfare.
• Engage with stakeholders to promote a culture of care and professionalism within the company.
• Provide advice and assistance to staff on the implementation of the three Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) principles.
• Deputise for senior veterinary staff as needed and support staff training and development.
• Comply with regulatory, quality, and health and safety procedures, including maintaining records and obtaining necessary accreditations.

Requirements:

• Completed master’s or diploma degree in veterinary medicine
• Independent, systematic work as well as reliability and trustworthiness
• High level of organization, communication and teamwork skills
• Very good knowledge of German (C1) and good knowledge of English (B2)
• Communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
